'Coming Together' Events, Downtown Dining Discounts

Check out these events and deals that are part of Skokie's annual "Coming Together" program.

This year, Skokie is celebrating the Greek culture, and numerous activities are planned for the next few months. On Thursday, Feb. 21, Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen and Oakton Community College  lecturer Frances Mitilineos will lead a discussion entitled "Greece: The Origin of Democracy."

Both Mitilineos and Van Dusen will discuss how the origins of democratic society began thousands of years ago in ancient Greece and how the current Greek democracy is navigating its ongoing fiscal problems. The public is invited to attend and ask questions. The discussion will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the first floor Council Chambers at Skokie Village Hall, 5127 Oakton St.
