Meatheads Restaurant To Open In Lincolnwood

It will be a freestanding building, unlike most of the chain's other locations in malls. It features burgers, salads, chicken sandwiches and more.

Meatheads, a Chicago-based fast-casual restaurant chain, will open its 13th restaurant in October at 6734 N. Lincoln Avenue, Lincolnwood.

Meatheads serves burgers made from fresh Angus beef as well as chicken tenders, a wedge salad, veggie melts, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese and New England-style hot dogs. The French fries are cut every day and cooked by a chef in omega-rich oil as part of a 32-step process, according to a statement.

The Lincolnwood location will be a new-construction freestanding location, which is different from most of the chain's other locations, in malls. The company said the Lincolnwood site is giving it a chance to design a prototype for other free-standing locations.

The Lincolnwood shop is a  2,200 square foot stand-alone building with a 700 square foot seating mezzanine and a covered patio space, the company said. Like other locations, the restaurant is near several schools, parks and a public library.

“We wanted to create a space that could become a model for future standalone locations,” said Jednorowicz. “We maintained the family design elements seen in other our other restaurants, like the horseshoe booths and community murals, but we also included a few more modern elements like blending natural wood, masonry and metal, that you’ll see on the exterior.”

Some facts about the new location include:

  • Space: 2200 square foot interior, with a 700 square foot seating mezzanine and a patio area (no drive-thru)

  • 68 seats on the main floor, 26 on mezzanine, 34 on covered patio area

  • 14 tables, 7 booths, 1 community table

  • Coke Freestyle machine

  • Exterior: Masonry with Hardi-Board and Metal siding. Cedar feature wall at Patio. Large covered outdoor patio area

  • A specialized mural featuring the Lincolnwood community

  • Designs by Kitty Carlson, OHR Consulting, Inc.

  • Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Founded in 2007, Meatheads now has 13 Chicagoland area locations: Barrington, Bloomington, Champaign, Elmhurst, Frankfort, Glen Ellyn, Lincolnwood, Naperville, Normal, Northbrook, Roscoe Village, Schaumburg and Willowbrook.

The company also says it is big on community involvement. It offers a summer reading program for kids and awards to local high school athletes.

Hi LSR, it's in the first paragraph. They said it would be an October opening. Maybe the story made you so hungry you missed it? :-)

Pam, thanks for pointing it out to me. Evelyn Wood taught me to skip some words -- LOL! Can't wait to try this place as I've heard good things about their quick serve restaurant out in Schaumburg.
