New Apple iPad Air Reviews and Where to Get Yours

Where to get the new iPad Air, and whether you should.

Reviews for the new Apple iPad Air are unusually similar across the board, probably because the new version is pretty much the old version — only skinnier.

For those gotta-have-the-latest among us, today's the day to head to the Apple store at Westfield Old Orchard Mall .

CNet's review of the new iPad Air calls it an "impossibly thin-and-light package" and hails an improved front-facing camera that makes FaceTiming look better. And while CNet points out the iPad is far more expensive than the smart tablets of most competitors, it calls the new iPad "the best full-size consumer tablet on the market."

Across the pond, the Inquirer points out that the reduced weight of the iPad Air may be more attractive in reality than in theory. The Inquirer has this to say: "It's quite shocking how much thinner and lighter the tablet is compared to previous models, and while these might sound like shallow aspects to be excited about, they likely will make the tablet much more pleasant to use than before. No more aching wrists while reading, and no more dragging around a handbag with a weighty iPad in it."

And Engadget's review of the iPad Air concludes: "If you thought you had a tough choice last year, the iPad Air faces even tougher competition in 2013 — and it's likely to get yet more fierce over the coming year. Though the Air will continue to be a solid option thanks to its size, weight, performance and battery life, the Nexus 10 offers a great experience at a lower price (although its lack of cellular connectivity is a potential con). And if you want the absolute best components, you might be just as happy with other flagship tablets."
