Purple Hotel Site Could Land SpringHill Suites

The hotel chain, part of Marriott, could be part of the mixed use development, reports Crains. The Vision in Violet could be demolished soon.

A mixed-use development on the site of the Purple Hotel in Lincolnwood could contain a SpringHill Suites, reports ChicagoRealEstateDaily.com. The chain is part of Marriott International Inc.

The Purple Hotel, so-called for the color of its bricks, at various times was the Lincolnwood Hyatt House, a Radisson, a Ramada, and other incarnations. It sits at the corner of Lincoln and Touhy Avenues.

The hotel is scheduled to be demolished, Patch.com earlier reported. The site was purchased in late May for $8.3 million by Jake Weiss, founder of North Capital, LLC.

Plans going forward include putting a mixed-use development, including a hotel, retail and office space, onto the site.

Individual purple bricks from the structure were being sold for $5 each at Lincolnwood fest last month. The money went to benefit the Lincolnwood library.
