But which Skokie bakery makes the best birthday cakes? After several days of voting,
Almost 90 votes were cast during the competition, and captured 67 votes, or 76 percent. The runner-up: Jewel-Osco with 11.

Kruger's gamble paid off, as Sweety Pies has been featured on a variety of media outlets, including WGN's Chicago's Best.
"People can spend five dollars and get a sweet," Kruger told Skokie Patch. "People always have birthdays and celebrations - we don't stop living."
