Readers' Choice: Who Has the Best Sushi?

We want to know: Who has the best sushi in town? Besides the contest, you can also check out our reviews of Skokie's local sushi restaurants in this article.

Sushi first got its start in Southeast Asia and was the main source of protein for its people for centuries.  Sushi made its first appearance in Japan around 718 and the United States in 1893.

Sushi aficionados also rarely use chopsticks and avoid soy sauce and use little wasabi. Another interesting factoid: The word sushi doesn’t refer to fish, but actually means rice seasoned with sugar, salt and vinegar. The raw fish dish also got its start as a type of fast food in Japan.
