Retail, Dining Complex Could Replace Purple Hotel
Renderings show the possible placement of buildings on the retail-dining-hotel campus.
A collection of retail stores and dining establishments grouped onto a campus of four buildings could replace Lincolnwood's Purple Hotel, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
A hotel would sit on the northern part of the site, with access to Lincoln Avenue, the newspaper said.
The Purple Hotel, operated by various hospitality chains over its decades in Lincolnwood, is in the process of being knocked down. Lincolnwood officials would like to make the prime location, just east of the Touhy Avenue interchange off I-94, into a North Shore stop for dining and shopping.
Springhill Suites has been mentioned as a possible operator of the hotel on the property.
