Skokie Bakery Serves Transylvanian Goodies

Ovy Transylvanian Bakery offers European-style baked treats.

 

A Skokie bakery is offering Transylvanian goodies made by Ovidiu “Ovy” Pop, who has worked as a chef at famed Chicago restaurants such as Blackbird and the Waldorf Astoria’s Balsan, Skokie Review reported. 

Last January, Pop took over the former Le Patisserie location at 3455A W. Dempster and has since been making goods from scratch using all-natural ingredients, Skokie Review reported.

Menu items include Cozonoc, a traditional sweet bread; dobos, a sponge cake layered with chocolate buttercream and topped with caramel slices, as well as more familiar items such as rum balls and éclairs, according to the bakery’s website. 

This February, the bakery made its first out of state delivery to Alabama, according to its Facebook page.
