Sweety Pies in Skokie Offers Cakes, Pies and Elvis Cake Truffles

Cocodile Pie, Raspberry Supreme Pie and Grandma's Cinnamon Rolls are just some of the favorites at Sweety Pies.

Sweet treats are everywhere you look inside Sweety Pies Bakery, 8042 Lincoln Avenue, in downtown Skokie. The family-owned bakery, cakery and cafe is a profession and a passion for the Kruger family.

In this video profile, Dana Kruger and her mom Arden talk about some of the most popular items at Sweety Pies. Dana's father Bruce and her brother Chad are all involved in the family business.

Arden Kruger left her profession as a nurse to open a bakery during the peak of the recession, as noted in a previous article on Skokie Patch

Sweety Pies got a boost when their French Silk Pie was featured on Chicago’s Best TV show on WGN. That segment brought in customers from throughout Illinois and from surrounding states.

"We focus on handmade, homemade family recipes," said Dana Kruger.

Those recipes include some one-of-a-kind items like the Elvis Cake Truffles: a unique combination of bananas, bacon and peanut butter with candied bacon toppings.
