Wilde & Green Eatery Has Shut Its Doors

The foodie/healthy upscale twist on a food court at Westfield Old Orchard has closed. Did you like it?

Wilde & Green tried to put a designer spin on food courts, but in the end, it just ended up with a "Closed" sign on its door. As in permanently closed.

"Unfortunately, Wilde & Greene will has elected to close its location at Westfield Old Orchard," said Shannon Ridgeway, marketing director for Westfield Old Orchard.

The eatery opened with fanfare in summer 2011, and its mix of hot foods, grill, salad bar, sushi shop, crepes, Italian fare, coffee bar and more charmed many patrons at Skokie's Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center, where it occupied some prime real estate.

It also had the benefit of bringing 400 jobs when it opened.
.
But not all was foodie bliss. Patch reviewer Samantha Nelson tried to visit the rooftop bar and found weak cocktails, stale crackers and small portions--in addition to the restaurant being out of the ingredients for the first three dishes she tried to order.

The mall has no immediate plans to replace the eatery, but Ridgeway said the mall is always searching for opportunities its customer base will enjoy.

Wilde & Green's parent company did not immediately respond to a request for information about the restaurant's closing.
