Rosecrance in Northbrook will provide teens in the North Shore with more resources and opportunities for recovery with a new intensive outpatient program (IOP) beginning on Jan. 6, 2014. The program allows teens struggling with substance abuse issues to focus on recovery while staying in their home environment.

Chris Yadron, Rosecrance Director of Chicago-Based Services, said the IOP for teens also provides important education and support for their families. The combination of care helps the family unit learn and grow during treatment and sets the stage for the teen to sustain recovery afterward.

“These programs have been successful in other communities, and we are delighted to bring additional services to the Rosecrance Northbrook office,” Yadron said. “These are critical times for teens in the Chicago area, and this is a way for those with substance use disorders to get the professional help they need, with family support, while they remain at home and continue a regular school schedule.”

Topics discussed in the program include: the disease of addiction and its impact on individuals and their families; the effects of drugs on your body; trauma and its association with substance use; alternative recreational activities; anger management; and relapse prevention.

Northbrook IOP groups will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. Family nights will be on Tuesdays. The office is located at 1200 Shermer Road, Suite 109, in Northbrook.

An initial assessment appointment is required to be referred to the program. To schedule a free assessment or get more information on services offered in the Chicago area, contact Sherry Walters at 815.387.5615 or swalters@rosecrance.org.

Rosecrance also has offices in Lincoln Park, Oak Park, Naperville, Geneva, and Frankfort providing free, confidential drug and alcohol evaluations for adults and adolescents.
