Flash Flood Warning in Effect

Rain and possibly hail is expected to fall this afternoon.

A flash flood warning is in effect for Cook County until noon Friday. 

The National Weather Service is reporting two to three inches of rain fell over portions of McHenry County and Cook County this morning. High winds and hails was also reported throughout the area. Another inch is expected before noon.

The excessive rainfall could cause flash flooding in low-lying areas, small creeks and streams and underpasses, according to the NWS.

The National Weather Service is warning residents not to drive their vehicles into area where water covers the area since the depth might not allow the car to cross safely and urging campers and hikers to avoid streams and creeks.
