Monday Blotter: Jewelry Along With $2,000 Taken in Burglary

Theft from motor vehicle

Police responded to a theft from motor vehicle at the Best Buy parking lot in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard on Sept. 18. According to the report, the driver’s side window was smashed open and an Apple brand router was taken from the vehicle.

Stolen bicycle

A woman reported her bicycle was removed from the shared storage area of her apartment building in the 8500 block of Lotus Avenue on Sept. 14. The victim told police the lock to the storage area had been broken and that several other residents had said their bikes were missing.

Garage burglary

Police responded to a garage burglary in the 3400 block of Lee Street on Sept. 15. According to police reports, a blunt object was used to gain access inside the garage. Once inside, several bicycles, valued at $1,200, were taken.

Stolen auto

A car parked in the 5300 block of George Street was reported stolen on Sept. 20. The victim suspects a family member may have stolen the vehicle and may have sold it to pay rent.

Stolen license plate

A car parked in the 8600 block of St. Louis had its license plate stolen on Sept. 20. 

Residential burglary

A home in the 9500 block of Kostner Avenue was burglarized on Sept. 20. According to the report, entry was made through an open kitchen window and once inside, several pieces of jewelry and $2,000 in cash were looted.
