Patch Picks: Summer Camps

From half day to overnight, Patch has you covered on your summer camp destination.

While it may be a few months away, it's never too early to choose a summer camp destination for your children.

On this week's "The List," Patch takes a look at five summer camps that are sure to give your loved ones a memorable summer.

Camp Chi

Perhaps the best known camp away from home in the North Shore, Camp Chi is organized by the Jewish Community Center, or JCC.

Their program involves a variety of activities, ranging from cooking to wall climbing and even trips to Wisconsin Dells.

The camp is located on 600 acres of majestic pines on Lake Blass in Wisconsin. The program has a 1 to 3 staffer-to-camper ratio and small cabin groups to ensure campers receive personalized attention and encouragement every day.

Skokie Park District Camps

This coed day camp is four weeks and runs from June through August. There are two targeted focuses, sports camp and visual and performing arts camp. Ages run from 3-16-years old with camp fees ranging from $201-$500. For more information, click here

Morton Grove Park District Summer Camp

Make plans to have your kids spend summer with the Morton Grove Park District's summer camp. The park district offers several camps, ranging from Camp Sunshine for children 3 and 4-years-old, to Teen Times, which is targeted for 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

Niles Park District Camp

Niles offers a variety of camp programs for preschoolers to eighth graders. All camps offer half-day and full-day events. According to their website, "our goal is to provide fun and safe activities that promote good sportsmanship, creativity and positive self esteem."

Hi-Five Sports Camp

This camp away from home has a special focus on sports and outdoor activities. Located in Northbrook and founded in 1990, the camp's philosophy is "all about helping kids feel good about themselves while they are learning and growing," according to their website.
