Skokie Village Clerk Retires After 30-Plus Years

Marlene Williams, Skokie's village clerk since 1981, is retiring on April 22.

Since 1981, Marlene Williams has served as Skokie Village Clerk, providing election services, citizens’ assistance, passports and real estate transfer taxes among other services; after more than 30 years in service, the 80-year-old will be retiring on April 22, Skokie Review reported.

Williams decided against running for re-election and has kept the fanfare about her retirement as low-key as possible, even turning down several requests for parties in her honor, saying that it’s not her style, Skokie Review reported.
