A 57-year-old Skokie man was struck by a vehicle that was heading southbound on Skokie Boulevard and attempting to head east on Main Street at approximately 3:30 p.m. on April 2, police officials said. (Latest update here.)

3. Evanston Resident Charged with DUI in Pedestrian's Death

Following the death of Skokie resident Alan Rubin, police charged Evanston resident Larissa Lomax, 32, with driving under the influence of drugs and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

7. Who Would Kidnap a Therapy Dog? Skokie Woman Charged

Detectives “painstakingly reviewed hours of videotape footage” obtained from surveillance cameras around the crime scene and later charged Adina Tiran, 33, of the 4000 block of Mulford Street with one count of burglary to auto, a Class 2 Felony. If found guilty the penalty is three to seven years in prison and a fine up to $25,000, police said.

For more than 50 years, Skokie has made a variety of efforts to revitalize its downtown. While the village has had some success, the $8.9 million bid that was approved on March 18, might move the project forward to unprecedented levels.  

 

9. Police Respond to Prostitution Complaint

Officers responded to a prostitution complaint in the 5200 block of Old Orchard road on April 19 around 12:15 a.m. According to police, an offender agreed and accepted $700 to perform a sexual act. It is unclear if any charges were filed at this time.
