Barnes & Noble Old Orchard Hosts First-Ever Discovery Friday

Barnes & Noble store at Old
Orchard in Skokie will host Discovery Friday, an all-day event created to serve as the official launch of the holiday
shopping season and help customers experience the thrill of discovering the perfect gifts for friends and family.



On Discovery Friday, which falls exactly one week before Black Friday, Barnes & Noble at Old Orchard will host fun and festive hands-on activities for kids, teens, and adults, including Word Winder on a giant game board, led by inventor and nationally syndicated puzzle master David Hoyt.  The store will also feature in-store appearances celebrating all things Chicago. Doug Sohn, proprietor of Hot Doug’s, will discuss and sign his cookbook along with authors of brand-new books about Wrigley Field, Carson Pirie Scott & Co, and the history of magic in the Windy City. 

The chorus from Willard Elementary School in Evanston will provide music.

Customers can also enter for a chance to win a $1,000 Barnes


& Noble shopping spree, with five lucky winners to be chosen from across the country.
