Composting with Worms

Get the compost you’ve always wanted without the back-breaking effort! Put those red wigglers to work on recycling your food waste and breaking down everything from apple cores to banana peels. We’ll check out the Nature Center’s worm bin to see how worm composting keeps food scraps out of the landfill and results in a nutrient-rich, organic soil amendment. You’ll also view materials on vermicomposting, receive handouts and tips on keeping your worms healthy, and make your own worm bin to take home. Fee includes bin and starter worms. Ages 16+. $30 Skokie residents, $38 non-residents. To register, call 847-677-7001.
