Twenty First Star Chapter DAR Meeting

The Twenty First Star Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Park Ridge Country Club, 636 N. Prospect Avenue in Park Ridge at 11:30 a.m.  A luncheon will be served at 12:00 p.m. with a meeting and program to follow.  Hostesses for the day are: Pat Gould, Pat O’Connell, Julia Trelease and Barbara Hale, Chairman.


 


Chapter Regent Joy Martin is please to have our Illinois District IV Director Nancy Canova present a program entitled "Revolutionary Wives." This program will look at the contributions to and tribulations of the women who stayed at home while their men legislated and fought during the American Revolution.  Ms. Canova taught Advanced Placement U.S. History and European History at Maine South High School for 31 years, and is a former finalist for the Golden Apple Award.

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal decent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.  The DAR recognizes "Patriots: as not only soldiers but also anyone who contributed to the cause of American freedom."  If interested in learning more about the Daughters of the American Revolution or attending one of our meetings, please contact Dorothy Wilson at (847) 328-6946 for further details.
