International Security Afffairs for History Buffs

At NSSC, Northfield Location:

Michael Zimmerman, M.S., London School of Economics, Political Analyst, Journalist

Political analyst Michael Zimmerman continues his presentations on international security studies with a trilogy on war termination, meanings of victory, and the U.S. experience. Conflicts, crises, and wars may end cataclysmically with a bang, or sometimes both sides are severely weakened or distracted elsewhere and a settlement is negotiated. Michael Zimmerman will take a look at this vast, important subject. The passage of time can bring some insight to the variables and complexities in the meanings of victory, such as The Great War viewed in 1919 versus 1939, or Vietnam in 1973, 1975 or 2013. You will consider case studies from America's view, including the last century's World Wars, the Cold War conflict, crises, hot wars and recent military actions. No class October 11.
