The Return of Styx & Todd Sucherman

The Chicago rock group Styx with Lincolnwood-Skokie drummer Todd Sucherman closes out 2013 with 2 of 3 concerts in the Chicago area this weekend. Last night it was Merrillville, Indiana, and tonight they're in Waukegan, Illinois.

This time it will be a different kind of homecoming for Todd as he recently announced that he & his wife Taylor Mills are expecting their first child. His brothers Joel & Paul are anxiously awaiting their new Uncle status.

As an outsider looking in at the life of Todd, the Crystal Ball says this First Time will be a Brave New World for him, even though he's seen as a Man Of Miracles. Todd will never say he has "Too Much Time On My Hands" since he never sits still. He's more like a Man In The Wilderness who was Born For Adventure. He tours, he records, he's married, he gives drum clinics, he releases award-winning drum DVD's, he's in Styx and he sometimes plays in other bands. Todd might have The Grand Illusion that he can keep up this pace and some friends might say "You must be Fooling Yourself" since he needs to become One With Everything for the new Babe. Todd might be in the middle of a Styx concert with that Rock & Roll Feeling when suddenly he has to make a Midnite Ride to a hospital. Once the baby's born he'll know that it's the Best Thing, a big Difference In The World, but if it's a girl will he name the little Lady Jennifer or Lorelei?

Last time Todd was home wasn't that long ago and he could've seen the Purple Hotel or gone to Myron & Phil's restaurant, but those two landmarks are gone now.

Todd Sucherman has been with Styx for almost 19 years and they will perform tonight (12/29) at 7:30 in the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan.
