They Went Together Like a Horse and Carriage: The Music of Cahn & Van Heusen

Master lyricist Sammy Cahn and his longtime partner,
melodist Jimmy Van Heusen, were both born in 1913, so the centennial for this
peerless team is being celebrated this year. Jimmy was the songwriter of choice
for the two greatest popular singers of the 20th century: Bing Crosby and Frank
Sinatra. Sammy, who wrote hit after hit in the 1940s with Jule Styne, was
brought together with Jimmy by Frank in 1955, and from then on they wrote
dozens of hit songs for Sinatra including three Oscar winners. Hear them all
sung by Bing, Frank, and many others including Sammy himself.
