Make schools safer. Encourage policy makers at all levels of government to genuine listen to the students and educators. Promote public discourse in a civil, objective and apolitical way. make "EDUCATION" (students, educators, etc.) the number one priority and concern. Gun Laws, mental illness funding and a myriad of other very important issues must come after education and not before.

Policy
Only constituted law enforcement persons (police, sheriff, etc.) should be allowed to be armed with lethal weaponry (guns, canines, etc.) on or near school grounds.

The above outline is a temporary solution. I personally encourage in the strongest words possible to please consider an open, civil and vigorous debate on making our schools safe for all our children throughout our township, state and nation.
For several years I have proposed for Illinois to adopt the LASPD (Los Angeles School Department). LAPD (Los Angeles Department) is for protecting and serving the general public at large. LASPD is specifically dedicated to protecting and serving the students, teachers and schools of Los Angeles.
The emergency dial number 119, reverse sequence of 911, would supersede all other 911 incoming calls. This would be very easy to do especially with Chicago's soon to be updated 911 system in downtown. Initiate test relay calls in the emergency room where presently NATO and other agencies are allowed to practice emergency call coordination. 119 should be an internationally accepted emergency number for school emergencies.
