JEWISH CHILD & FAMILY SERVICES HOSTS TOWN HALL MEETING ON LIGAS LAWSUIT IMPACTS

Jewish Child & Family Services (JCFS), a premier nonprofit dedicated to providing vital, individualized, results-driven services to thousands of children, adults and families, will hold a town hall meeting May 15.

The meeting will be held to discuss the impacts of the Ligas lawsuit, which was filed on behalf of adults with developmental disabilities residing in ICFs/DD who choose to move to community-based services or settings and on behalf of adults with developmental disabilities residing at home who are seeking community-based services or settings.

 

JCFS will be sharing updates on committee work as it relates to the Ligas lawsuit and overall project development. Tony Records, the court appointed monitor of the consent decree on the Ligas v. Hamos case, will be speaking to about the impacts of the Ligas lawsuit.

 

Discuss will be held on:

  • Innovative options for supporting people in community settings
  • An update of Ligas activities, including the Ligas Implementation Plan, all of the requirements of Ligas over the next two years and the rights of the thousands of Ligas class members.
  • The systemic changes that will be necessary in order to comply with the Decree's requirements over the next nine years.
