Flash Forward to Flashback Weekend

Flashback Weekend is the longest running and largest yearly horror convention in the Chicago area.  It is filled with celebrity guests and vendors  from various horror-related genres.  This year, Flashback Weekend will be at the Crowne Plaza in Rosemont from August 8 through August 10.

Over the years, I have met over a hundred celebrities at Flashback Weekend.  My absolute favorites were Roddy Piper, Kelli Maroney and Sarah French.  Not only did I meet them, but I was able to actually spend a few quality minutes with each.  This is one of the special parts of Flashback Weekend.  You never feel like you are being rushed through the experience.

This year, the main attraction is Robert Englund.  Not only is Englund making a rare appearance, he will be donning the Freddy makeup one last time.  This is an unbelievable opportunity to meet one of the greats.

Englund (as Freddy) is not the only attraction, though.  There is a 30th anniversary reunion of The Children of the Corn and a 35th anniversary reunion for Phantasm.  Also appearing are Traci Lords, Zach Galligan, Lance Henriksen and many more.

From the local entertainment scene, the legendary Svengoolie will be there.  Also appearing will be Dann Gire, Nick Digilio and Kitty Zombie.

The fun doesn't end there either.  There will be a costume contest, a zombie pin-up contest, panel discussions and more.  Plus, the stars of Phantasm will be in concert!  I am sure there will be a few surprises along the way, too.

I always say that Flashback Weekend is a big convention with a "homey" feel.  It is well run by great people.  It is attended by large, but friendly crowds.  Everyone there is friendly and there never seems to be a problem.

This is one show I am sure not to miss.  I hope to see you all there, too.  Flashback Weekend is simply pure fun!
