The Chicago Bliss Invade Resistance Pro Wrestling

The Chicago Bliss have been hard at practice for about six weeks.  Last Friday, the Bliss saw some real action, but not on a football field.  The Bliss invaded Resistance Pro Wrestling for their “Girls Girls Girls!” event.

For the first part of the evening, the Bliss posed for pictures, signed autographs and mingled with the R Pro fans and wrestlers.  The lovely and tough ladies of the Bliss were well received by everyone.

R Pro owner Gabriel Baron said, “Having the ladies of the Bliss with us exceeded our expectations.  All of the Resistance Pro roster was impressed with their athleticism and enthusiasm.  They certainly brightened up the show and made a lot of new fans and friends.  We look forward to having them back soon!”

R Pro superfan and wrestling writer Jonathan McMahon spoke for the fans, “I thought it was great to help raise awareness for the team here in Chicago.  It was a cool introduction to them… getting to meet and interact with them.”

R Pro’s second annual Samuel Thompson Memorial event featured an eight women tournament, where the winner would receive a contract with R Pro.  In order to keep the action in the ring during the tournament final, R Pro enlisted the aid of the Bliss to act as lumberjills surrounding the ring.  The Bliss were certainly up to that challenge.

Paloma Starr emerged victorious over Devyn Nicole and Amanda Rodriguez in the three-way final match.  After the match, things got really interesting.  R Pro women’s champ D’Arcy Dixon presented the winner’s trophy cup to Starr, but was interrupted by Mickie Knuckles.  Just when it looked like things would get ugly, the Bliss jumped in the ring and thwarted any threats to Starr and Dixon.  The crowd erupted as Starr, Dixon and the Bliss celebrated in the ring.

The fans obviously loved the Bliss being involved in the action and the players were definitely eager to mix it up a bit.  Bliss rookie Bridget McDonnell shared her thoughts, “It was exciting that Resistance Pro incorporated us into their show. All the Resistance Pro wrestlers were happy to share their passion with us and the crowd was very energetic.”

Fellow Bliss rookie Jori Parys agreed with McDonnell.  “It was something I had never experienced before but all of the girls had a blast,” said Parys.

Will the Bliss be back at R Pro?  Baron stated, “They have an open invitation.”  McDonnell would seem interested, saying “it was fun and the only promo so far where we actually were an integral part in the event instead of an isolated table in the corner.”

The Resistance Pro event was just one of many the Bliss are doing to raise awareness for the team.  They have also appeared at a Super Bowl party, an ice-skating day, a dodgeball event and more.  The Bliss are working as hard at getting noticed as they are at getting ready to defend their 2013 LFL title.

Their plan seems to be working.  R Pro wrestler Matt Knicks is just one of their new fans gained at “Girls Girls Girls!.”  Knicks expressed a newfound appreciation for the Bliss.  “It was super cool that all these chicks all really enjoyed playing football and they weren't just doing it to get famous or whatever.”

These women do enjoy playing football.  If they play as well as they did last year and continue to make appearances all over Chicago, they will certainly get more well-known.  McDonnell summed up their feelings, “It would be awesome to do another event just like this one to continue to build Chicago Bliss's fan base.”
