Territory guarding

Territory guarding, the double-edged sword. Part one:

Yesterday, I went for a walk with my little ball of black and white fluff. It was the first decent day for walking in well over a month. In the meantime, she (Fayette) has been getting older. At 8 months she is ready for a walk of some distance. So off we went.

I have not had a long distance walking buddy since June. As a result, I forgot about a block I always avoid because of a house where two dogs are left out in the yard, unsupervised. When anyone walks by they bark, and snarl and leap and run the fence. They briefly fight with each other before they resume barking and snarling at passers-by. These dogs are so violently aroused the moment they see anyone walk by that I fear if they ever get out of that yard whomever they make contact with will be seriously injured.

Well yesterday, boy did I remember them, when I found myself walking past their house, on the opposite side of the street no less, as they erupted into a violent frenzy.

Stay tuned for Part Two
