He was a civil engineer in Asia and Africa as well as the former public works director in Madison, WI.

Jerome D. Franklin, P.E., civil engineer, age 90, at rest April 26, 2014

 Loving husband for 65 years of Jeanette, nee Grossman. Cherished father of Steven (Cindy) Franklin, Jonathan (Linda) Franklin, Charles (Marcia) Franklin, and Judith (Ernest) Simon. Proud grandfather of Jeremy (Tori), Andrew (Alexandra), Elizabeth, Ari, Clara, Dori, Sam, Adam, and Derek Franklin, Noah and Leonard Simon.  Doting great-grandfather of Hannah, Joseph, and Ashton.  Fond uncle, thoughtful mentor and loyal friend of many.  

Graduate of Weequahic High School (Newark, NJ), Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) and Yale University.  Over 20 years, led challenging civil engineering and advisory projects under US and UN auspices in South Vietnam, East Pakistan, Indonesia, Ghana and Sudan.  First Traffic Engineer for the City of Grand Rapids MI; ultimately Director of Public Works for the City of Madison WI.

Memorial Services were noon Monday, April 28, 2014 at Temple Beth Israel, 3601 Dempster, Skokie, IL 60076.  Interment Private.
