Downtown Tree Distruction

As I read updates about the work being done in downtown Skokie, I read that the Village Arborist has been involved.  I question why trees other than possibly diseased ash trees are being cut down and destroyed.  Is there some reason why good trees were not balled in burlap, boxed, and transported to parks or other public land? Seem like when they plant new trees in the fall, it will take 20 years for them to really take root and grow.  So wasteful of tax payer dollars.  I think she should be released in favor of someone who has the tax payer interest in mind.
