Oakton Station

Don't you think it might have made more sense to turn the lot north of the station into a small shopping zone with some tax revenue producing tenants, like a Starbucks?
Secondly, how about the new sign at the station flashing time and temp...maybe some local events???

Yes, missed opportunity. They grossly overestimated the usage of that waiting lot by the public. The only car ever in there, is the solo CTA employee, and I mean EVER... I have documented it's non-use since it opened. Since they only maintain ridership numbers of those who board there, and not those who disembark, they will never know when to throw in the towel. And redevelop that lot into the valuable retail space it should have been. A Starbucks or any other drive through business, could have helped steer traffic toward the downtown area. With a properly designed exit onto Searle Pkwy. The flashing sign, as well as the park district one a block South, are ironically in violation of their own outdated signage codes. The Village is allowed to have flashing signs, but businesses are not. Not even a OPEN sign can flash.

It's a real shame when people happen to leave trash by the Skokie Swift tracks instead of putting into trash containers! Hope to see the Swift extended to by Old Orchard sometime soon as I use the Skokie Swift to use as a means of travel when I don't own or drive a car for when I go into Cihicago from Skokie,

What's a real shame is the people I see walking on a DAILY basis that drink their drinks and eat their food and toss the cups/wrappers right on the ground. Gee, you can't walk an extra ten feet out of your way to toss the trash in bin??
