Rat Problem?

We found a dead rat in our back yard today.  Some of our neighbors have seen rats in their yard or the alley (we live in the area around Main and Laramie).  Do we have a rat problem in Skokie?  Please comment if you have observed any rats, and tell me the approximate area in which you live.
