“Terri Mlotek makes our community better and inspires others to get involved,” said Allan Schroeder, President, C.O.O. of Heil & Heil Insurance.
Safeco Insurance Community Hero Awards honor hometown heroes and nonprofit organizations that have a positive impact in education, health and safety, or civic engagement, and the award program supports the community involvement of independent insurance agents across the country.

Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter, which provides care in the Chicago area, was one of the first 50 hospice providers in the United States. Since its inception, the nonprofit community-based organization has provided support to thousands of individuals and families in the Chicago area each year.
Terri Mlotek knows first-hand how important this support is, as she’s been volunteering for the organization for the past two years. She takes time during her lunch to visit hospice patients who need companionship during their final days, giving them presence, touch and a caring ear.
“It has been an honor for me to assist these wonderful individuals,” Mlotek says. “I am humbled by it. And I do feel more people are needed.” She has seen seven patients to date, including one for more than four months.
