14-year-old Charged in Park Stickup

The alleged suspect stole the victim's bicycle and cell phone at gunpoint.

A 14-year-old Skokie boy used a revolver to rob a man who was exercising at Gross Point Park on July 28.

According to the report, the victim was doing sit-ups when the suspect crept up behind him and whipped out a pistol and said, “Give me all you sh**.”

The teen then took the man’s cell phone and fled the scene using the victim’s bicycle. After police arrived, they interviewed several nearby witnesses who said they saw the teen enter an apartment in the 5000 block of Church Street.

Police checked the apartment and handcuffed a teen matching the description given by the victim. The juvenile was then taken to Gross Point Park where the robbed man made a positively identification.

While the juvenile denied any involvement with the robbery, he was still charged with armed robbery with a firearm and was transported to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago.

Last April, a woman The victim described the assailant as a 16- to 18-year-old male. In December, near the 8800 block of LaCrosse Avenue with a pistol.

Because the arrested teen was under the age of 18, no name or further identifying information was available.
