20-Year-Old Charged With Monday Burglaries in Skokie

Skokie police charged the man with five counts of burglary to a motor vehicle.


Skokie police released the following statement Wednesday. 

Criminal charges have been filed against Scott Del Valle, 20 years of age, 100 block of Ashland Ave., Evanston, in connection with multiple motor vehicle burglaries which occurred in and around the 8000 block of Laramie Ave., Skokie.  Del Valle was charged with five counts of Burglary To a Motor Vehicle.

 

The incident took place overnight on Monday, October 14, 2013, when Skokie Officers responded to a call of a person pulling on vehicle door handles.  Officers observed a subject matching the description of the suspect.  Once the subject was approached by officers, he ran away and leaped over a fence in the area.  Officers were able to locate the subject hiding in a garage.  Officers recovered his backpack which contained several items from the burglarized vehicles.

Based on a working relationship between the Skokie Police Department and the Skokie community, Skokie Officers were able to make an arrest and recover several items stolen from the unlocked vehicles.

Del Valle is scheduled to appear at the Second District Courthouse, Skokie, IL, on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 9:00 a.m., Room #105.  Bond was set at $50,000 D bond.

 

All citizens are reminded to help prevent crimes of opportunity by locking your vehicle doors and removing any valuables from plain view, for all criminals to see.

 

The public is reminded that neither a complaint nor an indictment is evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
