Another Apologetic Burglar Strikes in Skokie

Chase Avenue homeowner wasn't as polite in telling man and his accomplice to get out.

A Skokie man came home to some unusual guests on Aug. 23.

According to police reports, the man walked into his kitchen after he did some shopping and saw two strangers rummaging through his belongings.

When the burglars saw the homeowner, one of them immediately apologized. “I’m sorry I’m in your home,” the culprit said.

The homeowner wasn’t thrilled, telling the suspects to “get the f*** out of my house,” according to the report.

The culprits fled the scene in the 4900 block of Chase Avenue and the resident called the police.

Neighboring Lincolnwood police assisted Skokie authorities in searching for the suspects, but neither department was successful.

The homeowner told police the suspects were very polite and that one had a slight Middle Eastern accent. No items were reported missing.

The bandits were described as 19-21 of age, about 5-foot-10 tall, about 160 pounds and of Middle Eastern decent. 

Last September, The story made headlines after a man broke into a woman's home and apologized to her after pilfering her items. 

The suspect told the woman, "I don't want to do this, but I haven't had a job for so long, and I have three children to support," the burglar told the victim.

The story went regional and police eventually nabbed the suspect.
