Armed Robbery Reported at Glenview Gas Station on Halloween

A man pointed a gun at an employee at the gas station, located at Waukegan Road and Colfax Street, then made off with $875 from the cash register, according to police.

Glenview police are investigating an armed robbery that took place on Halloween at the Marathon Gas Station, 242 Waukegan Rd., Glenview.

An employee told police that a man entered the store around 10:51 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, and pointed a gun at him. The robber ordered the employee to open the cash register and get down on the ground, according to police.

While the employee was on the ground, the robber stole all of the money from the cash register, about $875, and four cartons of cigarettes, then fled to the north, police said.

Police described the robber as a 40-45 year-old black man, who is 6'2" to 6'5" tall and weighs between 170 and 190 pounds. Surveillance video of the incident exists, but police are still investigating it and are not releasing the video at this time, according to Glenview Police Sgt. Patrick Schuster.

The Halloween robbery at the Marathon station is the third armed robbery in the area within the last two weeks.

On Oct. 25, a man pointed a gun at a clerk at the Marathon gas station at 8001 Skokie Blvd. in Skokie, and demanded money from the register. The clerk was unable to open the register and the offender fled the store without any money, according to Skokie Police.

Four days earlier, two men with a gun robbed a Shell Gas Station at 9600 Crawford Ave. in Skokie. They made off with $300 in cash from the register.

Schuster said he did not know of any connections between the armed robbery in Glenview and the two reported in Skokie.
