Armed Robbery Suspect Used Credit Card in Skokie

After three Northwestern students were robbed at gunpoint, the alleged offenders would later use one of the victim's credit cards at a 7-Eleven in Skokie.

Evanston police have a lead on one of the suspects in the that happened early Sunday morning.

Records show that one of the credit cards stolen in the robbery was used at 7-Eleven, 3441 Church St., Skokie, at 1:35 a.m. Sunday. The transaction took place just 25 minutes after the robbery, police said. 

The store's surveillance video shows two men exiting a light-colored car and entering the store. One of the men, wearing dreadlocks or braids, approached the register and paid for his purchase with the credit card, police said. The men then took off in their car.

Police have not taken any suspects into custody yet, and are continuing to investigate the robbery. The incident took place at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, when two men approached a group of three female students at the intersection of Foster Street and Pratt Court. One of the men displayed a handgun, then demanded their valuables. He took purses from all three as well as a cell phone, police said.

Sunday morning's armed robbery was the second armed robbery to happen within a 24 hour time span in Evanston. Police are also investigating , at the intersection of Foster Street and Orrington Avenue, just six blocks east. In that incident, one man approached the victim and displayed a handgun while another stayed across the street, according to police.
