SUV Injures Bicyclist in Crash

Driver said biker was wearing an iPod while crossing Oakton Street.

A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle near Oakton Street and Skokie Boulevard about 3:30 p.m. Monday.

According to police officials, a green sport utility vehicle was traveling southbound on Skokie Boulevard when the driver hit a bicyclist who was trying to cross Oakton Street. The driver said she had the green light and that the bicyclist was wearing an iPod.

The cyclist suffered a broken leg and was transported to Rush North Shore Hospital, 9600 Gross Point Road. No names or further information was available.
