After Stanley Lorkiewicz, 72, of the 7500 block of Octavia, near Niles, collapsed and died after a car lightly struck the bicycle he was riding, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has performed an autopsy.
They gave the cause of death as acute coronary thrombosis, which a representative said is like a blood clot in the heart. They ruled Lorkiewicz died of natural causes.
After a motorist tapped Lorkiewicz's bicycle while he was crossing Jonquil at Milwaukee Avenue, she stopped to ask if he was OK or needed help, Niles police said. He told her he was all right, and she left.
