Blotter: Man Beaten with Rock, Multiple Burglaries

The following arrest information was supplied by the Skokie Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Robbery

A man reported being attacked by 5 to 10 males wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black ski masks, on the 4900 block of Louise Avenue, at 11:50 p.m. on June 20.
The victim was struck in the head multiple times with a rock, along with being punched and kicked, while the offenders searched his pockets.  The offenders fled in a green Chevy Tahoe. The victim has had previous confrontations with the offenders based on the victim’s self-admitted gang affiliation, police said.       

Burglary

Someone removed a large rock and power tools from a storage box on the 8400 block Niles Center Road at 6:30 p.m. June 20.

Residential Burglary

The victim reported that an unknown male, wearing dark clothes and a red hat, entered the residence through the open rear door, on the 8500 block of Lawndale Avenue, at 1 a.m. June 18. Several sports memorabilia items, Coach designed purses, a television, and a MacBook Pro computer were removed from the home.   

An unknown offender attempted to unlock the front door on the 9100 block of Keating Avenue, at 7 p.m. on June 20. However, entry was not gained to the residence.

An unknown offender attempted to enter a residence on the 10000 block of Frontage Road, between 11:35 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. June 20 through an unlocked rear window. Entry was not gained. 

Criminal Damage to Property

An offender used a piece of concrete to break the driver’s side window on a Chevrolet pick-up truck, which was parked next to the garage on the 8200 block of Laramie Avenue, between June 17 at 7 p.m. and June 18 at 11 a.m.

An unknown offender used black spray paint to make illegible markings on the inside of the outhouses at Pooch Park between June 16 at 6:15 p.m. and June 20 at 6:15 p.m. 

Disorderly Conduct

An unknown offender approached girls and began verbally harassing them on June 17. The following day, the same offender approached three girls and began verbally harassing them. The offender was described as a black male, 6’0” to 6’01”, 210 to 230 pounds, dark complexion, short black hair, wearing a black leather jacket, a yellow t-shirt, blue jeans, riding a red and black bicycle, and carrying a black backpack. The incidents happened on the 8300 block of Knox Avenue, and on the 9000 block of Lamon Avenue.

Theft
The unknown offender removed the victim’s wallet from her purse on the 9300 block of Skokie Boulevard, between 5 and 7 p.m. June 18. The purse contained $650 and a driver’s license.

Retail Theft
Joan Ky, 20, Skokie, came to the cosmetic center at Sephora, 4999 Old Orchard Road at 6 p.m. June 18, selected several cosmetic items and placed them in her purse, according to police reports. She then attempted to leave the store, where she was apprehended and charged with retail theft.

Driving Arrests

Taewan Noh, 28, of Evanston, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence on the 7900 block of Crawford Avenue on June 18.

Jose Gutierrez, 21, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of no driver’s license, on the 8500 block of Skokie Boulevard on June 19.
