DUI arrests

Arvin Huchterson, 29, of the 200 block of Callan in Evanston, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Aug. 1. Callan was arrested near the 3400 block of Church after he was found passed out in the back seat of his Ford sport utility vehicle.

Jose Flores, 45, of the 4700 block of North Drake in Chicago, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol about 11 p.m July 31. After leaving a picnic party, Flores' friends flagged a nearby officer and informed him that Flores was "drunk as a skunk" and that he had just hit a parked vehicle. The officer followed Flores and pulled him over near Touhy and Crawford, where the driver was cited with a DUI.

Bad timing burglary

An officer returning to the scene of a residential burglary to retrieve his flashlight noticed an individual exiting a garage with a bicycle and plastic bag. Felipo Bello-Estrada, 39, of the 600 block of South State Street in Chicago, was stealing items from the garage and was arrested for residential burglary on July 31.

Odd break-in

Officers responded to a residential burglary on the 8300 block of Tripp on July 30. The homeowners said their back screen door was kicked in and it appeared their home was ransacked. Clothing was thrown all over the floor, but upon further inspection, the residents realized that all their valuables were intact, except for a missing pillowcase.

Air conditioner parts

A business owner reported that several internal components of a central air conditioner were stolen from his back yard on July 30 on the 7300 block of Channel.

Garage burglary

Items valued at more than $1,000 were stolen from a garage on the 8600 block of Harding on July 30.  Two bicycles valued at about $900, a scooter valued at $79 and a pair of pewter goblets valued at $150 were taken from the home.

Grab and go from store

Three teen males entered the 7-11 store on the 8300 block of Skokie Boulevard about 11:30 p.m. July 26 and grabbed as much candy and soda as they could before running out. Upon arriving at the scene, the business owner was unable to provide video footage of the offense to police.

Theft from motor vehicle

Swiss Army bag was taken from a van on the 8900 block of Niles Center about  10 a.m. Aug. 2. The bag contained a Dell laptop computer, important work papers and 60 tablets of Ativan.
