Burglar Knocks Over Chair, Wakes Up Resident

Also, a Honda Civic was stolen. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.


The following information is from Skokie Police Department reports and the village of Skokie. 

Motor Vehicle Theft

  • Motor Vehicle Theft on the 8200 block of Springfield Avenue, on September 24th between 12:01 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.  Reported:  09/24/2013. An unknown person(s) stole a 1992 Honda Civic.

Burglary

  • Burglary on the 4900 block of Church Street, on September 24th at 11:03 a.m.  Reported:  09/24/2013. An unknown person entered through an unlocked window while the victim was sleeping.  The offender knocked over a folding chair and woke the victim up.  The offender then fled the scene.
  • Burglary on Williamsburg Road, on September 24th at 11:30 p.m.  Reported:  09/24/2013. An unknown person(s) entered the unlocked enclosed porch area.  The victim was home and overheard the suspect(s) attempting to gain entry though the locked front door. The suspect(s) then left without being able to gain entry. 
  • Burglary at 3745 Dempster Street, on September 26th at 1:58 a.m.  Reported:  09/26/2013. An unknown person(s) broke the front window and entered the business.  The cash register was stolen from the business.

Attempted Burglary

  • Attempted Burglary on the 3800 block of Madison Street, on September 25th at 7:31 p.m.  Reported:  09/25/2013. An unknown person(s) used a pry tool in an attempt to force open a kitchen door.  Entry was not gained.
  • Attempted Burglary on the 5300 block of Carol Street, on September 26th between 3:45 p.m. and 4:09 p.m. Three unknown male Hispanics wearing safety vests, asked the homeowner to look at her backyard.  Two of the subjects entered the residence and were confronted by the homeowner’s son.  The subjects fled in a black SUV in an unknown direction.

Criminal Damage to Property

  • Criminal Damage to Property at 4201 Main Street, Shining Star Learning Center, on September 24th between 12:00 p.m. and 3:52 p.m.  Reported:  09/24/2013. An unknown person(s) cut the bushes on the side of the building and left the clippings.
