Burglar Steals Jewelry, Bank Info in Home Break-In

And in a second home burglary, cash, credit cards and other items were stolen. An arrest is merely an accusation, not evidence of a conviction.

Burglary

  • Burglary on the 4200 block of Grove Street, on October 11th between 8:00 a.m. and 6:40 p.m.  Reported:  10/11/2013. An unknown person(s) forced open the front door and ransacked several rooms.  Jewelry and bank information was stolen.
  • Burglary on the 8700 block of Trumbull Avenue, on October 11th between 5:00 p.m. and 10:59 p.m.  Reported:  10/11/2013. An unknown person(s) entered the home though a kitchen window and ransacked the bedrooms.  Credit cards, cash and other items were stolen.
  • Note: Police have arrested and charged a suspect in this crime. Burglary at 4112 Dempster Street, Jet’s Pizza, on October 8th at 2:20 a.m.  Reported:  10/08/2013. An unknown person threw a rock through a glass window and entered the business.  The offender did not take any proceeds as the cash register was empty.  The offender is described as a light skin male black or possibly Indian, 5’5” – 5’ 10”, 225-250 pounds.  He was wearing a green t-shirt and khaki cargo shorts.
  • Note: Police have arrested and charged a suspect in this crime. Burglary at 4718 Oakton Street, Ashtar Food Market, on October 8th at 3:32 a.m.  Reported:  10/08/2013. An unknown person threw a piece of concrete through the front door of the business.  Once inside the offender removed the register’s tray containing $100 in change.  The offender was then seen walking westbound along the storefronts.  The offender is described as being a male, middle eastern, 5’5” – 5” 6” tall, balding, wearing a green polo shirt, khaki shorts with black gym shoes.
  • Burglary at 4940 Main Street, G & G Automotive, between October 7th at 6:00 p.m. and October 8th at 7:30 a.m. Reported:  10/08/2013. An unknown person smashed the front door window with a large rock.  The cash register, which contained approximately $60.00, was stolen.
  • Burglary at 9500 Skokie Boulevard, I-Hop restaurant, between October 8th at 11:00 p.m. and October 9th at 5:55 a.m.  Reported:  10/09/2013. An unknown person(s) entered the unlocked entrance door and removed $46.00 from the register.  The subject was described as a male black or Hispanic, 17-23 years of age, 5’4” – 5’7”, 130-160 lbs., with braided hair wearing a white long sleeve dress shirt and tan colored dress pants.

Attempted Burglary

  • Attempted Burglary on the 8700 block of Trumbull Avenue, on October 11th between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Reported:  10/12/2013. An unknown person(s) attempted to gain entry by using a pry tool but was unsuccessful.
  • Attempted Burglary on the 4600 block of Oakton Street, between October 8th at 10:00 p.m. and October 9th at 8:55 a.m.  Reported:  10/09/2013. An unknown subject(s) attempted to gain entry into the business by breaking a window.  Entry was not made.

  • Burglary to Motor Vehicle on the 3700 block of Main Street, between October 4th at 3:00 p.m. and October 5th at 11:00 a.m.  Reported:  10/11/2013. An unknown person(s) enter an unlocked Mazda and removed a handicap placard and an IPhone.
  • Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 5000 block of Fargo Avenue, between October 6th at 6:00 p.m. and October 7th at 6:30 p.m.  Reported:  10/08/2013. An unknown person(s) entered the unlocked Toyota Camry and removed sunglasses from the glove box.

Criminal Damage to Property

  • Criminal Damage to Property on the 8300 block of St. Louis Avenue, between October 10th at 6:00 p.m. and October 11th at 10:47 a.m.  Reported:  10/11/2013. An unknown person(s) broke a window on a 1998 Honda while it was parked on the street.
  • Criminal Damage to Property on the 8100 block of Long Avenue, between October 11th at 5:00 p.m. and October 12th at 1:00 p.m.  Reported:  10/12/2013, An unknown person(s) deflated the tires on a 2012 Honda.
  • Criminal Damage to Property on the 4100 block of Crain Street, between October 11th at 8:00 p.m. and October 12th at 1:00 p.m.  Reported:  10/12/2013, An unknown person(s) used a sharp object to scratch a Dodge that was parked on the street.
  • Criminal Damage to Property on the 8800 block of Kenneth Terrace, between October 6th at 8:00 a.m. and October 8th at 2:44 p.m.  Reported:  10/08/2013. An unknown person(s) threw a rock at the front window causing it to break.
  • Criminal Damage to Property on the 5701 Oakton Street, Niles West High School, on October 7th between 7:50 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Reported:  10/08/2013. An unknown person(s) used a sharp object to scratch a Ford Mustang while it was parked at Niles West High School.
  • Criminal Damage to Property on the 9500 block of Lockwood Avenue, on October 8th between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.  Reported:  10/09/2013. An unknown person(s) spray painted, beige spray paint on a vehicle.
  • Criminal Damage to Property on the 8100 block of Kilbourn Avenue, between October 9th at 6:30 p.m. and October 10th at 6:30 a.m.  Reported:  10/10/2013. An unknown person(s) removed a side mirror on a Mazda CX9.
