Bus Catches Fire on Edens Expressway Monday Night

A Greyhound bus carrying 57 passengers was engulfed in flames late Monday night.

A Greyhound Bus caught on fire on the Edens Expressway at Tower Rd. around 11 p.m. on Monday, according to Illinois State Police. All 57 passengers on board were evacuated, with no injuries reported. 

The bus, which originated out of the downtown Chicago terminal, was fully engulfed in flames after a rear tire blew out, with sparks causing the fire. The driver was successfully able to evacuate all passengers. 

As of 12:05 p.m., the left lane of the Edens Expressway is open, and passengers are awaiting another bus to take the passengers away, a representative of the Illinois State Police said.
