Cop Car Makes a Run for the Boulder at Taco Bell: OMGPD

A free sample hog, slippery makeup and an armed anti-tax Pepsi lover this week in the annals of Chicagoland crime-n-shame.

OMGPD, a collection of Patch Chicago's weird and noteworthy crime, posts weekly.

A Rock is a Hard Place: A Naperville police officer got his squad car stuck on top of a decorative boulder at a Taco Bell drive-thru lane, apparently after oversteering. Internal affairs is investigating. The news report prompted one reader to ask "Why is this news?" and a Patch commenter to reply: "This is great news ... Officer Crunchwrap was probably too busy chowin' down on his taco 12 pack." That's entirely speculation, however. via Naperville Patch

Hidden Beauty: A young woman perusing the makeup at Sephora in Orland Park told police that mascara and eyeliner slipped from her butterfingers and fell, through no fault of her own, into her scarf and the sleeve of her jacket. And she just decided to leave them in their happenstance hiding spots. And then leave the store. via Orland Park Patch

Cheater Eater: You can get too much of a good thing at the Jewel in Elmhurst, where a hungry man has been banned for life due to his overindulgence in free samples. (And the theft of a doughnut.) via Elmhurst Patch

Soda Pop Off: Taxed to his last nerve, Nahshon Shelton grew so incensed over the 22-cent tax on his 2-liter Pepsi (retail price: $1.89) that he pulled a weapon from his Gucci satchel and threatened to blast everyone in his neighborhood convenience store, police said. "I'm tax exempt," he told Chicago cops when they arrived and took him away. via Beverly-Mount Greenwood Patch

Potential Pranksters or Worse? Two teen-agers boarded a school bus in Orland Park and walked into Sandburg High School Wednesday morning along with thousands of other teens. But the duo weren't students, and their incursion prompted a lockdown and a police and bomb squad response. Nothing was found and the two mysterious intruders fled the school. via Orland Park Patch

Heave and Push: A police officer who tried to help a man vomiting in an Elmhurst alley was pushed by the man's companion, so police arrested both the vomiter and the pushy friend. via Elmhurst Patch

Unwanted Exits, Wanted Rocks: A Glenview business reported that someone filled its trash bin with "emergency exit handles." Cops found the culprit, who took the unwanted handles back. And a homeowner told cops someone stole decorative rocks from the yard, but the rock taker was found and gave them back. via Glenview Patch

Some Good News

Tree Trimmers Help Nab Burglar: A woman came home to find a man leaving her house in Downers Grove, but a trio of tree trimmers chased the man until police arrived and slapped the cuffs on him. It always boosts the spirit to see people looking out for each other like this. via Downers Grove Patch

Patch writers hide behind a keyboard spewing venom for anyone who can read or be read to. They are cowards. Their "stories" are just that. Not a word of truth in any of them. This website is funded by politicians, more often than not written by them as well hiding behind an editors tag. It's propaganda Flo....and you are correct.....it is childish as well as unprofessional.

Did you see the Drew Peterson movie? It portrayed Hosey's office as a gleaming, modern and bustling. As opposed to the stained drop-ceiling and general bleakness. Just let the Patch be the joke it always has been.

Leave it to the Patch to embellish Comedy Central as a business to be respected.

Maybe Flo W and Jake Matt are smokin' the same stuff "Officer Munchies" might have been on. Hope he was given blood and hair toxicology tests. Thought they were trained in defensive driving. What if it was a human body that the squad was "Mounted" on? Would you dismiss it also, Scum? I was told by a woman who counsels officers that 75-80% of all officers suffer from mental illness. If that is true, I hope the officer gets a psych exam and also pays for the damage out of his/her own pocket and NOT the Taxpayers. It isn't funny, it's Scary!
