Deceased Officer Found in Antioch Was Niles West Graduate

Peter Michaels, 44, had been missing since Tuesday. He was found dead in a wooded area in Antioch on Jan. 10. Michaels was a Skokie native and Niles West High School graduate.

Lake County Sheriff's Office Highway Patrol found a deceased body in a wooded area of north Antioch on Thursday, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The man was identified as Waukegan police officer Sgt. Peter Michaels, 44, of Antioch.

At around 8 a.m. Thursday, a search party of about 120 people went out to look for Michaels. After finding the body, authorities determined that no foul play occurred, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Michaels is a Skokie native and graduated from Niles West High School in 1987, according to someone known to him. That person asked not to have their name revealed for privacy reasons.
