Despite Injuries, Skokie Police Make Arrest

A Chicago man allegedly scuffled with police, resulting in two officers needing treatment at Skokie Hospital. Nevertheless, police were able to make the arrest.

Two officers were treated for injuries after arresting a Chicago man in the 8700 block of Kimball Avenue on Dec. 27.

Terrance Lamont Robinson, 25, of the 4700 block of Fullerton Avenue in Chicago, was charged with a variety of offenses, including two felony counts of resisting a peace officer, a felony charge for possession of a controlled substance, aggravated assault and a misdemeanor count of escape, according to police reports.

Officers approached Robinson as his van sat in a parking lot in the 8700 block of Kimball Avenue around 8:30 a.m. After approaching the vehicle, police allegedly smelled a strong odor of cannabis and asked Robinson to exit the vehicle.

The suspect then allegedly attacked the officer, resulting in two contusions on her right hand. Robinson then tried fleeing the scene, but was later tackled and pepper sprayed by a different officer, the report said. That policeman received a fractured finger during his scuffle with Robinson.

Police would later find a bag filled with a white powdery substance, which would later test positive for cocaine. They also found a green leafy substance, which later tested positive for marijuana, according to the report.

The suspect would later tell police that he “tussled” with police because he felt violated and that he had smoked “some weed” a day earlier, according to the report.

Robinson was issued a court date of Jan. 11 at 9 a.m. in courtroom 105.
