This can all be blamed on the mayor allowing section 8 garbage in skokie.

Look at what type of people were accused of doing the theft. Before any of.that shit lived in skokie that never happened.
Cathy November 12, 2013 at 07:45 AM
Chief Scarpeli says crime is down and we dont need more cops on the street. What we need is a big motor home to reduce the crime that is not happening in Skokie. This chief has got to go !
brian russell November 12, 2013 at 07:51 AM
We need the mobile command unit to load this scumbag garbage up and take it back to the south and west side gettho where it belongs. Might need 2 vehicles for that with the amount of garbage in skokie

Section 8 has to go! Van Dusen has to go! He can take his failed policies with him! Good riddance!

You sure they're from Skokie? Maybe from Evanston or Chicago. Or somewhere else since Old Orchard is right off the Edens. They're mimicking what's happening on Michigan Avenue.
sklogw November 12, 2013 at 11:15 AM
Yes, it has nothing to do with being so close to Chicago OR having public transportation or streets that lead from on town to the next. Sure section 8 sucks but maybe you should be more proactive about it and vote against things. How many of the stories you read on here show that thieves live here in Skokie? I think Criminals come to the better parts because there is better pickings???????
brian russell November 12, 2013 at 11:22 AM
Then the police need to be more aggressive and not allow that crap to enter the mall or independent stores.if the garbage comes into town either lock them up or escort them out
sklogw November 12, 2013 at 11:28 AM
Similar to the Ford City Mall rules? Only for ski mask wearing criminals? LOL
Sandrina Roc November 12, 2013 at 12:40 PM
It's not the SPD's responsibility to protect the mall and the stores. Their on private property. It's the mall and store owners job. I want the few cops that we have to be patroling the streets, not the malls.

Brian, I agree w/ you that Skokie has gone down hill. I've lived here over 25yrs and it is definitely not the same town that I moved into. However, I'd like to comment on your statement "the police not allowing that crap to enter the mall" I also have very harsh criticism of the SPD. But you have to remember they have a very delicate balancing act between enforcing the law and a persons civil rights. Stopping someone from entering the mall just because they look a certain way opens up a whole different set of problems. I want Skokie to be safe but I don't want the village using their resources on a bunch of lawsuits from the cops stopping & harrassing innocent people who are just enjoying a day of shopping. Skokie is probably going to end up paying a lot of money because of the stupid cop who injured the woman by shoving her into the cell. More litigation means less money for the things we really need in this village.

You all need NYC style stop and frisk just like Evanston does.....with a good dose of old school racial profiling.
Greg November 12, 2013 at 08:12 PM
Is there a list available as to the names of the landlords who own Skokie property which have Section 8 housing? And if so, where is it published?
shp November 12, 2013 at 10:06 PM
Greg - It is not possible to get a list of Section 8 housing in Skokie. Cook County issues vouchers for Section 8 not the Village of Skokie; 50% of the vouchers are for seniors. Unfortunately, Skokie has many rental units with quite a variety of tenants. However, the Village Trustees are voting on a revised Rental Ordinance at the 11/18 board meeting. The new ordinance can be read by going to the Village of Skokie website. It may be under the agenda for the 11/18 meeting. Come to the board meeting and support the new ordinance. Hopefully, this will help to clear out some undesirables in Skokie.

Imagine this. Criminals that rent in Skokie are cleared out. These taxpayer (yes, you and I) subsidized units are then made available to Skokie police. Bad guys leave town, Skokie cops can move into town. Win-win. I for one would be happy to subsidize an officers dwelling as opposed to Tony Sopranos or some "gangsta rappers". No?
Jackie Brown November 13, 2013 at 12:49 PM
Skokie would not be Skokie without the good ole racial profiling! When has Skokie had a rap concert, that's what "gangsta rappers do" And I thought Tony Sorpano died !
Jackie Brown November 13, 2013 at 01:18 PM
Brian, the crime at the mall will get better when hart is released from prison, he will be the mall security guard. Let's see if he breaks the faces "gansta rappers " and the "Tony Sorpranos " like he did to Mrs. Feurstein !

I believe that the perps live in Skokie, and I thank this site for posting their races instead of being polite and PC and giving a clear description of them. The Huffington post will usually write something like "wore a hoodie." The village knows there's a problem and is supposedly going to kick these people out. Let's see if it happens or if Jesse and Al get involved and scream "discrimination." I agree. Skokie was never like this before.
Jackie Brown November 20, 2013 at 01:33 AM
Gs, I can ensure Jessie, Al and quite a few attorneys will "get involved" if the village tries to " kick these people out ". Punk coward jordan, with the big mouth or shall I say big words behind a keyboard, there is a bed sheet sale weekly in all major dept. stores in the mall, try 1200 count, it will give your ass more coverage from the heat you will face dressed in your "hoodie with eye holes". Give a date, I will be sure to tell Jessie and Al to be there.
