(03/09) UPDATE -

ESPN 1000 suspended Harry Teinowitz, host of "The Afternoon Saloon," until Friday, according to the sports station.

The suspension comes after Teinwoitz, 50, and Skokie resident, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday around midnight.

ESPN would not comment on his suspension, but told the Sun-Times,“we at ESPN take this matter very seriously, and we decided it was best for him (Teinowitz) to address the situation directly with listeners, which he did on Tuesday."

After being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in Skokie, ESPN radio host Harry Teinowitz apologized to his listeners during Tuesday's show of "The Afternoon Saloon."

Teinowitz told listeners that he made a "horrible mistake in judgement" and said he takes full responsibility for his actions.

"I let my family down, I let you guys, the listeners who I love down. I let the company I work for down and I am deeply sorry."

Teinowitz, a Skokie resident, was stopped on Saturday around midnight in the 3800 block of Greenwood Street for improper lane usage. It was later discovered that he was intoxicated and had a blood alcohol level of .131.

You may know him from ESPN 1000’s hit radio show, "The Afternoon Saloon." 

Harry M. Teinowitz, 50, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in Skokie on Saturday around midnight.

Teinowitz was driving his Nissan SUV near the 3800 block of Greenwood Street around midnight when he was stopped for improper lane usage, according to police.

He had a blood alcohol content level of .131, according to the report. Teinowitz was held on $1,000 bond and his license was taken away. His court date is March 23.  

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Teinowitz was kicked out from the White Sox clubhouse for inappropriate actions last May.

“We were trying to maintain a professional environment,” Sox spokesman Bob Beghtol told the Sun-Times.

Teinowitz did not appear on "The Afternoon Saloon" yesterday and was said to be off. Skokie police also said no new information is available at this time.

Harry nearly ran us off the road after leaving a ESPN event in Naperville. I have seen him at several events and he always got drunk. He loves his tequila

this guy is a whiner. He screwed up!! now it is time to pay the price... Luck evens out in the long run.
