Deceptive practice

A man came into the Skokie police station to report a deceptive practice on July 22. According to the report, a purchase of about $500 was made in his name at the Best Buy store in Riverside. The man told police he did not make the purchase.

$1,800 in Jewel items recovered

Police responded to an attempted retail theft at the Jewel store in the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard on July 21. According to the report, two black males loaded a shopping cart with groceries and attempted to run out with the items. When confronted by an employee, the two suspects fled. The value of the recovered items was almost $1,800.

Retail theft

Gina V. Cardelli, 18, of the 300 block of Aldine Avenue in Park Ridge, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft on July 23. According to the report, Cardelli allegedly took several items from a Macy’s store and attempted to leave without paying for the merchandise, valued at about $160. Her court date is Aug. 12.
